Sports equipment

Air Macau publishes sports equipment acceptance standards (ski, golf, diving, bicycles, surfboards etc.) but no separate sports equipment fee — items are carried as checked baggage.

    • Most sports equipment is only accepted as checked baggage and must follow packaging requirements (e.g. hard-shell cases, deflated inflatables, detached bicycle pedals).
    • Items such as surfboards, windsurfing gear, inflatable boats and paragliders must be declared and approved by Air Macau at the time of booking or ticket purchase, limited to one item per passenger.
    • No dedicated sports fee is published; excess charges for these items are governed by the published excess baggage charge table.

FAQ

Can I buy extra baggage online?

Yes. Open 'Paid baggage' under the Management menu on airmacau.com.mo. You must log in with an Air Macau account first (register if you don't have one); published online rates then apply.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Through the 'Paid baggage' function in the Management menu on the official website. Selecting it opens the account log-in page first; after logging in you can choose and pay for the extra baggage.

What is the free checked baggage allowance and what are the bag limits?

Economy: 1 piece × 32 kg. Joyful Economy: 2 pieces, total 50 kg. Business: 2 pieces, total 64 kg (max 32 kg per piece). Infants: 1 piece × 25 kg. Total dimensions per piece must not exceed 203 cm (80 inches) including wheels and handles, and no single bag may weigh more than 32 kg.

How does Air Macau calculate extra baggage charges?

Charges are flat per-piece or per-weight-band fees published in 10 currencies (USD, MOP, CNY, TWD, KRW, JPY, SGD, IDR, MYR, THB) for flights from Macau. The amount is charged in the currency of the departure country or region and rounded up to the nearest whole number. The current table took effect on 17 September 2025.

What are the overweight and oversized baggage rules?

Flat fees per band: 23-28 kg (USD 60 online), 28-32 kg (USD 80 online), just oversized 158-203 cm (USD 100 online), and overweight and oversized combined 23-32 kg with 158-203 cm (USD 200 online). Bags over 32 kg or 203 cm are not covered — if an item cannot be repacked or split, Air Macau reserves the right to refuse carriage.

How can I pay for extra baggage?

Online purchases can be paid with cash (card) at the 'Online' rate set, or with PhoenixMiles points at the higher 'Online Points' rate set — e.g. the first extra piece costs USD 100 in cash vs USD 120 in points.

Are there extra entitlements for members?

PhoenixMiles members (Silver and above, including Platinum, Lifetime Platinum and Annual Premium Lifetime Platinum tiers) receive one additional free checked baggage piece on top of the standard allowance: 1 piece × 32 kg in Business, 1 piece × 25 kg in Joyful Economy and Economy.

Do code-share or multi-carrier flights have different baggage rules?

Yes. On NX-numbered code-share flights operated by CA/ZH/SC/OZ the operating carrier's rules apply, while on flights operated by NH/BR the marketing carrier's rules apply (and vice versa when NX operates for a partner). On journeys involving more than one carrier, the baggage rules of the Most Significant Carrier apply.
