FAQ
Can I buy extra baggage online?
Yes. Extra checked bags (up to 23 kg each) can be added online during the booking flow on the official booking engine at digital.flyairsenegal.com, in the 'Extra services - Baggage' step. A dedicated post-booking 'Manage Booking' purchase page was not found on the official site.
Where do I buy extra baggage?
During flight booking on the official booking engine (digital.flyairsenegal.com) via 'Extra services - Baggage - Add extra bags', or at the airport, where check-in agents charge excess baggage at the prevailing excess price. The official site instructs passengers to contact Air Sénégal services or its partners for excess baggage amounts.
How much baggage can I take, and what are the bag limits?
Economy: 1 x 23 kg on the home network (Banjul, Bissau, Cap Skirring, Ziguinchor, Nouakchott) and 2 x 23 kg on other destinations; Premium Economy: 1 x 32 kg on those home-network routes. On Dakar-Paris the booking engine includes 2 checked bags of 23 kg and 1 carry-on bag of 12 kg / 115 cm. Cabin baggage is limited to 8 kg in zone 1 per the baggage policy page. Babies under 2 get 1 x 10 kg hold bag plus a pram/pushchair or car seat free of charge.
How does Air Sénégal calculate extra baggage charges?
Prices are route- and market-specific and are only displayed inside the booking flow — for example, an extra 23 kg bag cost USD 184.40 on the Dakar-Paris leg and USD 184.30 on the Paris-Dakar leg in an August 2026 session. No fixed fee table is published; at the airport the prevailing excess price applies and must be requested from Air Sénégal or its partners.
Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?
The booking engine advertises 'Book your extra baggage online to get the best deal!', indicating online purchase as the cheaper channel. Airport rates are not published, and the official baggage pages state that airport agents apply the prevailing excess price.
What are the overweight baggage rules?
Bags above the free allowance are charged excess baggage by check-in agents at the prevailing rate. Only additional bags up to 23 kg can be pre-purchased online; overweight baggage is not sold as an online product. Maximum weight per checked piece is 23 kg in Economy and 32 kg in Premium Economy on the home network.
Can I pay for extra baggage with cards or mobile money?
Yes. The official booking engine accepts credit cards (Mastercard, Visa) and Orange Money for payment.
Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?
Certain items require prior approval from Air Sénégal before travel: lithium batteries, weapons and ammunition, dry ice, electrical mobility aids, avalanche rescue backpacks and life jackets, and gas cartridges. Prohibited and dangerous goods are not allowed in the hold or cabin, and the passenger remains responsible for undeclared items.
