FAQ
Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?
Yes, you can purchase additional checked baggage online through My Trips on airserbia.com. You can also add it at the time of booking. Interline or codeshare itineraries may require airport purchase only.
Where do I buy extra baggage?
You can purchase extra baggage at the time of booking, via My Trips on airserbia.com, through the Air Serbia mobile app, by calling the Contact Center, visiting an Air Serbia office, or at the airport during check-in.
When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?
Online purchase is available up until online check-in closes. Booking more than 7 days before departure gives the best rates. Booking between 7 days and 4 hours before departure is still cheaper than at the airport. Check the official PDF price list for exact timing-based pricing for your route.
How does Air Serbia calculate extra baggage charges?
Air Serbia uses a piece-based system. Charges depend on the route zone, fare brand (Economy LIGHT vs other brands), purchase timing (advance, online check-in, airport), and whether the bag is Standard (23kg/158cm) or XL (32kg/203cm). If you have multiple types of excess (extra piece, overweight, oversized), fees are summed separately. The exact amounts are published in the official PDF price list on the excess baggage page.
Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?
Yes. Pre-booking online more than 7 days before departure gives the lowest rates. Online check-in rates are also discounted. Buying at the airport (within 4 hours of departure) is the most expensive option, up to 100% more than the advance rate. For example, on Kraljevo–Europe: 35 EUR (>7d), 45 EUR (7d–4h/online), 65 EUR (airport).
How many extra bags can I buy, and what are the bag limits?
You can purchase up to 5 additional checked bags beyond your free allowance. Each standard checked bag must not exceed 23 kg and 158 cm total dimensions (or 32 kg and 203 cm for XL fare brands). Bags over 32 kg or 203 cm cannot be accepted as standard checked baggage and require special approval.
What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?
Baggage weighing 23–32 kg or measuring 158–203 cm total dimensions is subject to excess fees assessed at the airport. Fees are route-dependent: 50 EUR for most European/Balkan routes, up to 150 EUR for other markets. Bags exceeding 32 kg or 203 cm cannot be accepted, except for musical instruments, sports equipment, or wheelchairs with prior Air Serbia approval. Overweight and oversized fees are summed separately if both limits are exceeded.
Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?
Yes. If your itinerary includes interline or codeshare flights, additional baggage can only be booked at the airport. The rules of the operating carrier may apply instead of Air Serbia's policy.
Can I get a refund or transfer extra baggage if I cancel or change my booking?
Baggage fees are non-refundable in cases of voluntary cancellation, no-show, if you decide not to take any baggage, or if you voluntarily rebook to a different flight/destination where the purchased baggage is not transferable.
Can I pay for extra baggage with cards or other methods?
Payment for extra baggage purchased online can be made using Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Dina Card, or Universal Air Travel Plan. See the Payment Options page on airserbia.com for full details.
