Enter your booking reference and last name to retrieve your reservation.

Prepaid extra checked bag prices vary by route, bag count, purchase timing, and ticket type. Business Flex/Classic include checked bags; Light tickets pay per bag. Each fee is per direction.

Oversized bags

Oversized bag charges apply for bags exceeding standard dimensions of 90×75×45 cm, up to a maximum of 190×75×65 cm.

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. You can purchase extra checked bags via Manage Booking on finnair.com or in the Finnair app. Up to 8 prepaid bags can be added, with a maximum of 10 pieces total per passenger.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Online via Manage Booking (finnair.com/manage) or the Finnair app. You can also add bags during the initial booking. At the airport, bags cost significantly more.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Extra bags can be purchased until 50, 65, or 80 minutes before departure, depending on the route. Buying earlier is cheaper — prices increase as departure approaches.

How does Finnair calculate extra baggage charges?

Prices depend on route, number of bags, purchase timing, and ticket type. From 1 April 2025, prepaid checked bag fees are based on the date your ticket was purchased. Earlier purchase = lower price.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online vs at the airport?

Yes. Prepaid online prices are significantly lower than airport prices. For example, a 1st bag within Europe costs €27–€55 prepaid vs €65–€70 at the airport.

Can I pay for extra baggage with Avios?

Yes. Finnair Plus members can use Avios to pay for extra baggage fees. Each price tier shows both the cash and Avios amount.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Bags over 23 kg (up to 32 kg) incur a heavy bag charge. Bags exceeding 90×75×45 cm (up to max 190×75×65 cm) incur an oversized charge. Business Classic/Flex passengers on long-haul flights are exempt from the heavy bag surcharge up to 32 kg.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

If your itinerary includes flights operated by another airline, extra baggage must be paid at the airport. Prices are determined by the operating carrier. IATA MSMC (Most Significant Marketing Carrier) rules apply.

How many extra bags can I buy?

Up to 8 prepaid bags can be purchased online, with a maximum of 10 pieces total per passenger. Each bag must not exceed 23 kg (50 lb) unless a heavy bag surcharge is paid.

Can I get a refund on extra baggage?
