How to Add Extra Baggage & Prices on MIAT Mongolian Airlines

Buy Baggage

Go to miat.com, open the 'Book' menu, and choose 'Manage my booking' to retrieve your reservation using your 6-digit booking number (PNR) and last name.
Extra baggage is not a self-service online product — request it when you purchase your ticket, or after purchase by contacting the office or agent where you bought the ticket.
Call MIAT's 24-hour call center at +976-11-333999 and ask to add excess baggage to your booking.
Alternatively, email your ticket number to cc@miat.com with your additional baggage request.
Pay the applicable excess baggage charge; MIAT confirms the additional baggage allowance on your ticket.

Prices

Piece-system charges under IATA Resolution 302 for international routes; domestic routes are weight-based. Each excess piece may weigh up to 23 kg. Ulaanbaatar-originating sectors are charged in MNT; inbound sectors (to Ulaanbaatar) are charged in the destination currency. Excess baggage is requested at booking or via MIAT contact channels — there is no online self-service purchase.

MIAT transports domesticated dogs and cats either in the cabin (PETC) or as checked baggage (AVIH). Pets require the appropriate AVIH/PETC code at reservation plus health and rabies vaccination certificates. Sports equipment and firearms are carried subject to packing and weight rules.

Sports equipment	See official pricing	A golf set packed within weight/dimension limits is free baggage when it is the passenger's only piece; as a second piece, excess baggage charges apply. A ski/snowboard set counts as one piece up to 23 kg (free within the allowance; overweight charges apply between 23–32 kg). One bicycle per passenger, pedals removed and packed, max 50 × 90 × 200 cm; fishing, hockey, tennis/badminton sets and skateboards up to 23 kg are accepted as one piece. Avalanche rescue backpacks require airline approval at the time of reservation.

Only bookings made through miat.com or the MIAT mobile app can be managed through the website's 'Manage my booking' tool; bookings from other channels must be changed through the respective sales office. South Korea and Japan may require rabies vaccination verification via a microchip implanted in the pet.
