FAQ
Can I buy extra baggage online?
Yes. During online booking on the International Booking engine, the 'Additional Baggage' step lets you select additional weight before payment. For bookings already made, Nepal Airlines sells pre-paid excess baggage through its City Offices / DSO-I rather than a self-service online channel.
Where do I buy extra baggage?
During online booking on the International Booking engine (the Additional Baggage step), or in advance at Nepal Airlines City Offices and District Sales Office International (DSO-I). Excess weight at the airport is paid at check-in at the per-kg rate.
When is the deadline to buy extra baggage?
Pre-paid excess baggage can be purchased at least 12 hours before departure per the terms and conditions (the page intro states one day before departure) and is subject to payload availability. If the flight date or time changes, purchased excess baggage is transferred to the new flight.
How does Nepal Airlines calculate extra baggage charges?
The airline uses a weight-based concept: the free baggage allowance is in kilograms and extra weight is charged per kg at the route's excess baggage rate, or in pre-paid 5 kg steps up to 30 kg per EMD coupon. Pre-paid rates are published per sector in the departure-local currency.
What baggage limits apply?
Checked free allowance is weight-based and ranges from 25 to 60 kg depending on route and cabin (per the published sector table). Maximum 32 kg per piece and 100 kg total including purchased excess. One cabin bag of maximum 7 kg (Economy) / 10 kg (Business), dimensions up to 22" x 18" x 10".
What are the overweight and oversized baggage rules?
Excess weight is charged per kg at the route's excess baggage rate and the maximum weight per piece is 32 kg. Oversize: AED 200 at DXB–KTM for luggage over 160 cm or TVs above 43 inches; volumetric TV charges of QAR 300 (DOH–KTM, 50–65") and SAR 350 (DMM–KTM, above 42") also apply.
Is it cheaper to pre-pay for baggage than to pay at the airport?
Nepal Airlines publishes separate pre-paid and airport rates: pre-paid is bought in fixed 5 kg steps up to 30 kg, while the airport rate is per kg and varies by route and direction. No discount percentage is officially published.
Can I get a refund for pre-paid excess baggage?
Pre-paid excess baggage is non-endorsable and non-transferable, and unused weight is not refunded at the check-in counter. Refund is only permitted if the ticket is fully refundable, if Nepal Airlines cancels the flight, or on voluntary refund at least one day before the flight (ticket refund charges apply). No-show bookings are not refunded.
Are there important exceptions or restrictions?
Pre-paid excess baggage is not available for interline travel, infants, or cargo; holding a return ticket requires two separate purchases for the two segments. Maximum 100 kg total including free allowance, GST/VAT is additional, and the service depends on payload availability. Pets travel as excess baggage and are not carried on Airbus A320 aircraft.
How do I pay for extra baggage?
During online booking, payment is accepted via eSewa, IME Pay, or card. At City Offices / DSO-I, pre-paid excess baggage is paid at the office when the purchase is made.
