Steps

  1. Go to piac.com.pk and use the flight search widget on the homepage to book a PIA flight; excess baggage can be added during the booking process.
  2. For an existing ticket, open the 'My Booking' tab in the booking widget and retrieve your reservation using your booking reference and last name.
  3. Select the excess baggage / advance purchase excess baggage option and choose the weight you need.
  4. Review the charge displayed for your route and complete payment online, or purchase through a PIA booking office or sales/travel agent worldwide.
  5. Complete the payment — the final amount payable is confirmed before the booking is finalized, and the additional allowance is added to your booking.

What are the overweight and oversized baggage rules?

Golf equipment beyond the FBA is charged 6 kg EBT for up to 15 kg excess (weight concept) or 50% of the unit charge (piece concept). Boxes/suitcases of 162–225 cm linear dimension: 4 kg EBT. Out-of-gauge televisions carry a 4–12 kg chargeable weight. Baggage exceeding prescribed size or weight may be refused or repacked at check-in.

Can I get a refund for advance-purchase excess baggage?

Yes. In case of voluntary or involuntary reissuance of the ticket, refund of the advance-purchase baggage fees is allowed without any additional charges.

Are there any important exceptions?

Except on USA/Canada-bound flights, an extra piece carried within the Free Baggage Allowance requires a 4 kg EBT. Live animals are carried in the hold only, are not covered by the FBA, and are charged normal excess baggage rates at check-in.
