    • Each piece must not exceed 115 cm total (l + h + w) and 7 kg. Must fit under seat or in overhead compartment.
    • Additional free items permitted in addition to hand luggage in all cabin classes: one laptop, one lady's handbag/purse/pocket book/duty-free item, one overcoat/wrap/blanket, one umbrella or walking stick, one small camera and/or binoculars. Duty-free item must be able to stow in overhead bin.
    • Passengers travelling with infants: 1 cabin bag 56 cm × 36 cm × 23 cm (115 cm) up to 5 kg for infant food/toiletries/disposable items, plus one infant carrying basket or fully collapsible stroller/pushchair if space available in cabin (otherwise as checked baggage).
    • Overweight cabin bag may be retrieved at boarding gate and subjected to excess baggage fee. Station staff control excessive cabin baggage.

  1. Go to srilankan.com and retrieve your booking via the 'Manage My Booking' feature by entering your booking reference and last name.
  2. Navigate to 'Additional Services' and select the option to purchase prepaid excess baggage.
  3. Choose the additional weight you need in blocks of 5 kg.
  4. Complete the payment online. A confirmation will be sent to your email, and your updated baggage allowance will be reflected in your itinerary.
  5. Alternatively, purchase extra baggage while booking your flight on srilankan.com, or via the SriLankan Airlines mobile app.

For piece-based routes to/from the Americas, extra pieces are charged at USD 250 each with a maximum of 32 kg per piece.

Bags exceeding 158 cm total dimensions incur an oversized charge of USD 50 per bag (sporting equipment handled separately). On weight-based routes, excess weight is charged per kg at the applicable airport rate.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

Yes. If checking into a codeshare or interline partner, charges may vary. Passengers holding an interline partner ticket with a UL operating segment can purchase prepaid baggage via Manage My Booking, the Global Contact Centre, or ticket offices.

Can I get a refund or make changes to prepaid baggage?

Changes to pre-purchased baggage can be made free of charge up to 24 hours before the original departure. Date and flight changes are allowed for the same passenger on the same route. The refund fee for pre-purchased baggage is USD 100, and refunds must be claimed at least 24 hours before departure. No refund is possible within 24 hours of departure.

Can I pay for extra baggage with cards or other methods?
