Steps

  1. Visit the official Turkmenistan Airlines website (turkmenistanairlines.tm) and open the baggage information page to check the free allowance and excess baggage fee for your route.
  2. Note that extra baggage cannot be pre-purchased online or via the mobile app; only air tickets are sold through the online system.
  3. Arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before an international departure and go to the check-in counter.
  4. At check-in, declare your extra piece and pay the published excess baggage fee in the local currency (manat or USD depending on the route).
  5. Keep the excess baggage payment receipt with your ticket documents.

Overweight bags

No fixed overweight fee is published. Pieces exceeding the allowance limits are excluded from the free allowance and charged in full at the airport.

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

No. Turkmenistan Airlines does not offer online or in-app purchase of extra baggage. Only air tickets are sold through the online booking system on the official website.

How does Turkmenistan Airlines calculate extra baggage charges?

Charges are per extra piece (piece concept) and depend on the route and direction. From Ashgabat to most international destinations the rate is 280 manat per piece (175 manat to Dubai); toward Ashgabat the rate is USD 50-150 per piece depending on origin.

What are the baggage weight and size limits?

International piece concept: on routes such as Ashgabat-Istanbul/Frankfurt/Moscow/London, Economy gets 1 piece up to 32 kg and Business 2 pieces of 20 kg each (each including 5 kg hand baggage). On Ashgabat-Dubai, Economy gets 2 pieces of 20 kg each and Business 2 pieces of 25 kg each. Hand baggage (briefcase, handbag, notebook) is up to 5 kg and 50 x 40 x 20 cm. Domestic flights allow 20 kg of baggage including hand baggage.

When is extra baggage paid?

Extra baggage is paid at check-in on the day of travel. Check-in for international flights opens at least 3 hours before departure and closes 40 minutes before departure.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

On domestic flights a single piece must not exceed 32 kg and 100 x 50 x 50 cm; pieces above these limits are not covered by the free allowance and are paid in full. No separate overweight or oversized fee amount is published — the charge is assessed at the airport.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Some temporary international fares (e.g. Ashgabat-Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, London, Frankfurt or Milan) include a free allowance of one piece up to 25 kg including hand baggage. Baggage rules differ between international and domestic routes.
