How to Add Extra Baggage & Prices on Uganda Airlines

  1. Go to ugandairlines.com and click 'Manage Booking' in the top navigation (listed as 'Manage your Flights' on the page).
  2. Retrieve your reservation by entering your six-character booking reference (e.g. 1AF5GB) or 13-digit e-ticket number, together with your last or family name as per passport.
  3. Select 'Excess Baggage' and choose how many extra bags you need.
  4. Complete the online payment — you will receive confirmation of the purchased excess baggage.

Excess baggage is charged per extra piece with a maximum of 2 extra pieces per passenger. Published per-piece rates vary by route and connecting sector (USD 50-200); the same fee structure appears in the official Baggage Policy.

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Excess baggage ('carry more bags by paying online') can be bought online through Manage Booking after retrieving your reservation. Overweight 24-32 kg heavy bags are the exception and are sold at check-in only.

How does Uganda Airlines calculate excess baggage charges?

Charges are per extra piece under the piece concept: USD 50 on East/Central Africa regional routes, USD 70 to Kinshasa, USD 100 to West and Southern Africa, and USD 200 to the UK, Dubai, Mumbai and Asia, with a maximum of 2 extra pieces per passenger. Free checked allowance depends on route and fare type and is indicated on your ticket.

What are the baggage limits?

Economy free checked allowance is typically 2 pieces x 23 kg (2 x 30 kg to Dubai/Asia; 3 x 23 kg to the UK), Premium Economy 2 x 30 kg (2 x 32 kg to Dubai/Asia; 3 x 30 kg to the UK) and Business 2 x 32 kg (3 x 32 kg to the UK). Each checked piece must not exceed 158 cm total dimensions. Carry-on is 1 piece x 7 kg plus 1 personal item (2 x 7 kg in Business); carry-on dimensions are limited to 10 x 16 x 24 inches.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage?

There is no published online cut-off for extra bags — purchase them any time before departure through Manage Booking. Overweight 24-32 kg heavy bags are sold at check-in only, and cabin baggage occupying a seat (CBBG) must be arranged through a sales/reservation office at least 48 hours before departure.

What are the overweight baggage rules?

A single bag of 24-32 kg is charged USD 50 on most routes and USD 70 on Dubai/Mumbai/Asia sectors, and is paid at check-in only - it cannot be pre-booked online. Sports equipment longer than 300 cm must be sent as cargo.

Do codeshare or partner-operated flights have different baggage rules?

If the first carrier on your booking is not Uganda Airlines, that carrier's baggage policy may apply for the whole itinerary on a single or conjunction ticket, and additional baggage allowance can only be purchased from that carrier.

Can I get a refund for pre-paid extra baggage?

No. Uganda Airlines states the baggage fee is non-refundable once purchased.

Are there any important exceptions I should know?

Infants are entitled to 10 kg under the weight concept or one piece (23/32 kg) under the piece concept, plus a collapsible stroller/pushchair and a carry-cot or car seat. One golf bag (up to 15 kg) is free in addition to your allowance, and cabin baggage occupying a seat (CBBG) must be pre-arranged through sales/reservation offices at least 48 hours before departure.
