Up to 4 checked bags per guest on WestJet flights. WestJet Encore limit is 3 bags. Flights to Kingston, Jamaica limit is 2 bags. Each bag must be under 50 lbs (23 kg) and 62 linear inches (157 cm).

What are the overweight and oversized baggage rules?

Bags exceeding 50 lbs (23 kg) or 62 linear inches (157 cm) are subject to additional fees of $150–$177. Max weight is 45 kg (100 lbs) for most routes, 32 kg (70 lbs) for Europe. Max size is 80 linear inches (203 cm). If travelling with overweight or oversized baggage, arrive 30 minutes prior to recommended check-in times.

Can I get a refund for prepaid baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

If your flight is cancelled, prepaid bags will be refunded. If you cancel your flight, prepaid bag fees will be refunded except for UltraBasic fares (non-refundable). If you change your flight, prepaid bags will transfer to your new flight except for UltraBasic fares.

Do partner-operated or codeshare flights have different baggage rules?

Yes. If travelling with or transferring baggage to WestJet airline partners, the baggage policies of the other carrier may apply. Fees are collected by the operating airline for the first flight in each direction.

Are there any important exceptions?

WestJet Encore baggage limit is 3 bags (not 4). Kingston, Jamaica flights limit is 2 checked bags. WestJet Rewards members with a WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard get first checked bag free.
