The per-kg rate depends on the route — domestic routes range from IDR 11,000 to IDR 148,000 per kg prepaid; international routes are quoted per kg in IDR or MYR depending on the route.

Free checked baggage allowance on Batik Air Indonesia is 20 kg in Economy and 30 kg in Business (domestic and international). On USA/Canada routes the free allowance is piece-based: 1 piece of 23 kg (Economy) or 32 kg (Business). You can buy prepaid baggage from 5 kg up to 30 kg per passenger. Maximum weight per checked piece is 32 kg.

Baggage exceeding the total allowance (free allowance + prepaid voucher) is charged at the airport excess baggage rate per kg. Maximum weight per piece is 32 kg. Surfboards and bicycles are excluded from prepaid baggage and incur separate handling fees per piece per segment.

Can I get a refund for prepaid baggage if I cancel my booking?

Accepted Answer

Unused prepaid baggage is non-refundable and cannot be converted to cash. It can only be refunded together with the flight ticket refund process. Prepaid baggage can be changed or exchanged, with any price difference charged.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Prepaid baggage does not cover surfboard or bicycle handling fees — these are charged separately. BFF Gold frequent flyer members receive an additional +10 kg free baggage allowance on Batik Air Indonesia flights. Connecting flights departing from Indonesia follow the highest allowance among the Lion Group airlines used.
