Batik Air Malaysia Baggage Allowance, Fees & How to Add Extra Baggage

When booking a flight on batikair.com.my, add a prepaid baggage package (10/20/30/40 kg) during the booking flow.
For an existing booking, open batikair.com.my and click the 'Manage booking' tab, or go directly to mb.batikair.com.my/manage-booking/login.
Enter your booking reference (PNR), first name and last name as recorded in the booking, then click Search.
Open the baggage section, select the prepaid package you need (10, 20, 30 or 40 kg) and complete payment.
The prepaid allowance is added to your booking and your e-itinerary is updated after purchase.

Prices

Weight-based prepaid packages sold in 10/20/30/40 kg steps; rates apply per sector and vary by route. Booking-time (initial) rates are lower than post-booking Manage Booking rates. Available for purchase up to 12 hours before scheduled departure; MYR rates are converted ex-origins and taxes (e.g. Malaysia SST / India K3) may apply.

Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?

Yes. Prepaid baggage packages (10/20/30/40 kg) can be purchased online via Manage Booking on batikair.com.my, or together with your initial flight booking, up to 12 hours before scheduled departure.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

Pre-book via Manage Booking on batikair.com.my (mb.batikair.com.my/manage-booking/login), at any nearest Batik Air ticketing office, or through the Customer Care Centre (od_customercare@batikair.com.my). At the airport, excess baggage is charged at the check-in counter.

What is the deadline to pre-purchase baggage online?

Pre-purchase of additional baggage must be completed at least 12 hours before the scheduled departure time. Once online check-in is completed, additional baggage cannot be added or pre-purchased.

What are the baggage limits?

Maximum weight per checked piece is 32 kg. Cabin baggage must not exceed 56 x 36 x 23 cm (115 cm linear): 1 piece up to 7 kg in Economy, 2 pieces up to 10 kg combined in Business Class. Prepaid packages are available in 10/20/30/40 kg steps.

How does Batik Air calculate extra baggage charges?

Batik Air uses a weight-based system. Prepaid packages are sold in 10/20/30/40 kg steps with rates per sector depending on the route; the airport rate is charged per kilogram for any excess above the free allowance. Free allowance itself varies by route and fare family (Super Saver 0 kg up to Business Flexi 40-45 kg).

Is it cheaper to pre-purchase baggage online than at the airport?

Yes. Post-booking Manage Booking rates are roughly double the initial booking rates (e.g. domestic 10 kg: RM 60 at initial booking vs RM 100 via Manage Booking), and any excess at the airport is charged per kg (from RM 37 domestic, RM 48 international).

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Checked baggage exceeding the free allowance is charged per kilogram at the airport check-in counter (e.g. RM 37/kg domestic, RM 48/kg international from Malaysia). Cabin baggage above the allowance is charged RM 50 per kg at the boarding gate, and oversized cabin bags are removed and loaded as checked baggage.

Do codeshare or interline flights have different baggage rules?

Interline and codeshare flights follow the operating carrier's baggage allowance, which may differ from Batik Air's own rules.

Can I get a refund for pre-purchased baggage if I cancel or change my booking?

Pre-purchased baggage is transferable to the new flight but is not refundable on voluntary changes; it is refundable only in involuntary cases such as flight disruptions.

Are there important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Baggage allowances can be combined with a travelling companion only if the bookings are within the same PNR. RM rates are converted ex-origins at the rate of exchange, so the actual amount may differ, and fees are subject to taxes where applicable (e.g. Malaysia SST / India K3 tax).
