FAQ
Can I buy extra baggage online after booking?
No. Skymark does not offer online or app purchase of extra baggage - the official FAQ states that excess baggage charges are paid at the airport counter. There is no prepaid excess baggage product.
Where do I buy extra baggage?
At the Skymark baggage counter at the departure airport when you check in your bags. There is no advance purchase channel (website, app or call center).
How does Skymark calculate excess baggage charges?
By weight, per flight segment: the first 20kg per passenger is free, 20-30kg costs JPY 2,000, and each additional 10kg up to the 100kg total limit costs JPY 1,000 more. There is no per-piece charge and no size-based fee.
What are the checked baggage limits?
Free allowance: 20kg combined per passenger with no limit on the number of pieces, each within 50cm x 60cm x 120cm. Maximum per piece: 32kg; maximum total: 100kg; maximum length: 280cm. Pieces up to 230cm total dimensions are accepted without a size fee. Cabin baggage: 2 pieces per passenger (personal item + 1 bag), 10kg combined, each bag within 55cm x 40cm x 25cm.
When do I pay for excess baggage?
On the day of departure at the baggage counter. Hand over your baggage at least 20 minutes before departure (30 minutes or more is recommended during peak seasons such as holidays and Golden Week).
What are the overweight and oversized baggage rules?
Bags over 20kg up to 30kg cost JPY 2,000; each additional 10kg costs JPY 1,000, charged per flight segment. No separate oversized fee exists for pieces up to 230cm total dimensions, but baggage over 280cm, over 32kg per piece, or over 100kg total is not accepted.
Can I pay for extra baggage with cards?
Yes, at the airport counter: cash or credit card (VISA, Master, JCB, American Express, Diners) are accepted.
Are there any important exceptions I should know?
The excess charge applies per flight segment, so a connection costs the fee for each segment. Wheelchairs, strollers, baby carrycots and child safety seats are carried free and excluded from the total weight. Sports equipment is treated as regular baggage with no extra fee.
