How to Add Extra Baggage & Prices on SpiceJet

  1. Go to spicejet.com and click 'Manage Booking', or open book.spicejet.com/RetrieveBooking.aspx directly, to retrieve an existing reservation; if you are still booking a new flight, add excess baggage from the Add-ons page during checkout.
  2. Enter your PNR / booking reference and the contact email or last name used for the booking, then retrieve the booking.
  3. Open the Add-ons page for your retrieved booking and select the 'Excess Baggage' option to choose between extra checked-in weight, additional pieces of checked baggage, Carry More On-board cabin baggage, or international connection baggage.
  4. Select the weight package (e.g., 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 kg) or the number of pieces you need and review the charge quoted for your flight.
  5. Complete payment online; excess baggage can also be purchased through the SpiceJet mobile app or the Reservation Centre (+91 124 4983410).

Yes. Pre-purchase excess checked-in weight, additional checked pieces, Carry More On-board cabin baggage and international connection baggage online at spicejet.com, through the SpiceJet mobile app, or via the Reservation Centre.

Where do I buy extra baggage?

While booking a new flight, add it from the Add-ons page. For an existing booking, go to Manage My Booking at book.spicejet.com/RetrieveBooking.aspx, enter your PNR and contact email or last name, then pick the excess baggage options on the add-ons page. The mobile app and Reservation Centre are also supported.

When is the deadline to buy extra baggage online?

Pre-booking closes 3 hours before departure for domestic flights and 6 hours before departure for international flights. International excess baggage (including connection baggage) must be booked at least 24 hours before travel, and Carry More On-board up to 12 hours before departure.

Is it cheaper to buy extra baggage online in advance vs at the airport?

Yes - SpiceJet advertises savings of up to 10% with pre-booking. For example, domestic excess weight costs INR 700 per kg at the airport versus INR 1,935 for a pre-booked 3 kg package, and an additional domestic bag costs INR 1,000 at the airport versus INR 950 pre-booked.

What are the baggage limits?

Hand baggage: one piece up to 7 kg, max 115 cm total dimensions on Boeing flights and 108 cm on Q400 flights. Domestic checked: one piece up to 15 kg with 158 cm total dimensions. International checked: two pieces with combined weight of 20 kg (Bangkok, Kathmandu, Phuket) or 30 kg (Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, Jeddah). Each checked bag must not exceed 32 kg, and passengers on the same PNR can combine their checked baggage.

How does SpiceJet calculate extra baggage charges?

Checked-in excess weight is sold as fixed packages (3, 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 kg domestically; 5 kg and 10 kg on international routes). Additional checked pieces cost a fixed fee per piece (maximum 2 pieces). Excess cabin baggage (Carry More On-board) is charged per kg up to 5 kg.

What are the overweight or oversized baggage rules?

Each checked bag is limited to 32 kg; if you exceed your pre-purchased allowance you pay the applicable airport excess rate (INR 700 per kg domestic, INR 1,200 per kg on international departures from India). Bags must fit within 158 cm total dimensions; oversized bags are accepted at the airline's discretion and LCD televisions over 55 inches are not accepted.

Do Emirates-operated (interline) flights have different baggage rules?

Yes. On SpiceJet-Emirates interline itineraries, allowances follow the Emirates weight concept (economy 20-35 kg, premium economy 35 kg, business 40 kg, first class 50 kg, by fare brand; piece concept of 1-2 pieces of 23 kg for USA/Canada/Africa) with separate interline excess rates. Maximum 10 excess pieces per passenger and 32 kg per piece.

Can I get a refund or cancel pre-paid excess baggage?

No. Pre-paid excess baggage is non-cancellable, non-transferable, non-refundable and non-reusable - even partially unused purchased weight (e.g., 4 kg used of a 5 kg package) cannot be refunded.

Are there any important exceptions or restrictions I should know?

Passengers with infants can carry an extra hand baggage piece of up to 7 kg within size limits. Power banks are only permitted in cabin baggage and e-cigarettes are prohibited on all SpiceJet flights. International connection baggage allowance applies only once per itinerary, for connecting flights operating within 24 hours of each other under the same PNR.
